With piano chair with back, rotating on crystal ball – and brass claw feet. Ivory piano keys.

Gardner & Zellner Piano Co. opened their musical offices in Los Angeles in 1891, at that time selling Chickering, Vose, and Steck pianos along with Chicago Cottage and Stary and Clark organs. In finer musical instruments of the time, usually mahogany and rosewood were used as the pieces were very expensive, Rarely was oak used. It was not until the early 20th century that highly carved pianos made of Quarter Sawn Oak were made and now with the ornate carvings are rare.

Condition: Good; refinished, working, one scratch on back base 3 1⁄2" high x 1⁄2" wide

America, late 19th century Of rectangular form; six-board top with two drawers in front frieze with accented carving sloped edge over a wide frieze with two drawers. Two brass pulls, dovetail, staple and nail drawers. The base of two open mouthed dolphins back-to-back; X-stretchers over raised scroll feet flanking a wide deep shelf.

America, 20th century Of carved wood and heavy paint powder-coated off- white with black saddle, bright colors of blue, red, pinks and gold. The harness with colored, faceted crystals, the reverse side with sword at saddle and blue-ribbon accents; one leg lifted, all on a brass twisted pole with ball, carved tail, affixed to a raised 2 3⁄4" rectangular platform.

67" high x 62" long x 17" wide

Condition: Good, 5" hairline crack over left eye, possibly a repaired 2" x 1⁄2", smudge/nick on rear end of horse.
